Join Master Qian for an instructional class for “Concept of Image Making--- Master Drawing Class”.

This master class is intentionally to present a clear concept of artistic image making. Master Qian will instruct students on how to improve their abilities of observation, three dimensional modeling images and artistic treatments by understanding of the concept of image making.

We ask $2 donations for CFAP members (Chinese Friendship Association of Portland);
$15 donations required for non-members; $10 for non-member children.

New Year's Party

Please bring your family and friends to a grand celebration of the Year 2008! Chinese Friendship Association of Portland is hosting a New Year's party on January 5, 2008, Saturday, from 6:30 pm to 10 pm, in the Ballroom of Portland State University, Smith Memorial Building on Broadway. This event is co-sponsored by the Institute of Asian Studies of PSU, America Asia Cooperative Trade Association, and Spring Leaf Chinese School. Entertainment, soft drinks and snacks will be provided at the party.

Join us to send off the past, embrace renewed hopes and dreams in the jovial tunes and dances of the festivity, and give the new year a cheerful start!

The much anticipated Photography Contest Award Ceremony and photo exhibition will be held on December 15. In the spirit of the season, we will hold a potluck and karaoke party simultaneously. Please bring your “trademark” dishes in adequate amount to the party. Invite your friends too if you wish! It’s going to be a fun-filled evening to kick off the holiday season!

We would like to ask you to share your moments, journeys and experiences through your views captured in pictures with our community. Let everyone in the community see the world through your eyes. So your participation is very important and appreciated.
Like Kodak puts it – “Share Moments, Share Life”.

Who to enter: everyone is invited – member or not. Please feel free to invite anyone who might be interested.

What to enter: any digitized photos you want to share.

Where to enter: email up to 5 photos to photo@portlandcfa.org (total email size should not be more than 10MB) and One email per person. Please include contacts and descriptions to photos.

When to enter: from now to Labor day week, 2007.

Top three winners will be awarded $100, $50 and $25 Gift cards respectively.

Majority of entries will be published on our web site shortly after being received. So everybody is a winner by sharing moments with the community.

Portland Art & Cultural Center and Portland Chinese Times are bringing back the well received Shaolin Kung Fu Spectacular featuring the highly decorated Chinese Shaolin Kung Fu Performance Troupe from China to create a series of unprecedented live martial arts demonstration.
The myriad kung fu styles performed by the members of the troupe represent the finest and most extraordinary feats of discipline, strength, and courage. Additionally, the troupe will combine mind-blowing chi kung, an ancient Chinese art of cultivating individual£¾s energy, into their energetic performance. The Shaolin Kung Fu Spectacular is a stunning display of human prowess and the mysterious powers of chi kung. The performance will amaze adults and children of all ages.
The renowned troupe is making its first performance in the United States since March of this year and had toured in select cities including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Houston, Texas, New York, Seattle and Portland. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view the troupe¡¦s remarkable martial arts skills and breathtaking performance.
