1:30-2:30 PM: Keynote Speech: My Child: Who Calls the Shots: On Parents’ Role in Heritage Chinese Education in the US /我的孩子“谁”做主? -- Dr. Iris Xu, Professor and Director of CI at Troy University

2:30-3:00 PM: Keynote Speech: Sitting by a drafty window: How much does one really have to suffer to learn? -- Dr. Alfonso Orsini, Head of The International School

3:50-4:05 PM: Immersion Chinese: What to Learn? How to Learn? What to Teach? How to Teach?” -- Ms. Yin Shen, Founding teacher of the American first Immersion Chinese Program at Woodstock Elementary School

4:05-4:20 PM: "How should kindergarten/pre-school kids learn Chinese Effectively” -- Ms. Yafei Liu, Chinese Teacher at Corbet High School

4:35-4:50 PM: “How to involve students as ACTIVE participants in the learning process and parents’ role in helping their children learn Chinese effectively” -- Parent and Student representatives

* 1) Participants who have successfully completed the full session of the Chinese Education Forum will receive Certificate of Completion of Chinese Educational Forum issued by the Confucius Institute at Portland State University
2) On-site Chinese Teaching Resources Exhibition by the Confucius Institute at Portland State University
3) Parking is free on Sunday at PSU Parking Structure 1 (entrance on SW 6th Avenue and Broadway between SW Harrison and Hall Street) on 3rd and above floors
