Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· As part of the new product development team, will work with others to bring consumer goods to market. This will include:
o Qualify and specify suppliers’ capabilities, processes, and new product development abilities.
o Develop cost models to estimate the cost of new products and negotiate pricing with suppliers.
o Identify and award new products to the supplier of choice.
o Review new product design for manufacturability and make recommendations for improvements.
o Recommend and make design and/or manufacturing process changes based on manufacturability, cost, quality or other concerns.
o Answer technical questions that come from the suppliers, both domestic and overseas.
o Work with US factory to plan and design manufacturing processes in-house.
o Determine and/or design parts, tools and fixtures needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications.
o Project management of all new product implementation projects in your area.
o Responsible for cost, quality and delivery of all new products.
Education, skills and experience
· Must be a US citizen with excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interface with all levels of the workforce.
· Ability to read, write and speak Mandarin fluently highly desired.
· Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited University.
o Industrial, manufacturing or mechanical engineering degree preferred.
· High energy and the ability to multi-task across projects with good organizational skills.
· Ability to travel, both foreign and domestic.
· Project management skills a must.
· Solidworks or other 3D CADD package experience required
· 2-3 years minimum of “hands-on” experience. Ideal candidate will have experience in the consumer products industry with exposure to high volume manufacturing of consumer goods.
o Machining, metals processing, coating, forming and/or plastic part manufacturing experience preferred.
· Must work well in a cross-functional environment and across all disciplines.
· Must have strong problem solving and time management skills, a results-oriented work ethic and be experienced in specifying and sourcing equipment, processes or products.
